1. Pink Millipede that secretes Cyanide
One of the creepy creatures is a millipede that might look nice because of its pink colour but is as hazardous as anything. It was discovered 10 years back in 2007, has a pleasant almond-like smell though but is scientifically called Desmoxytes purpurosea as per its toxicity as it secretes Cyanide which is the fatal poison on earth. It is spiky and remarked for its colour, having contrasting brownish divisions in the middle of the body in both, males and females.
2. Pacific Black dragon
Smart enough to trick their prey, these dark bodied creatures have even their stomachs coated with black tissues. Black dragons have unique light cells called photophores which are again there, to attract other creatures that they might eat. Female black dragons are about 60 cm long and have teeth-filled mouth while the males are much smaller i.e. just 8 cm in length and even have no teeth, stomach and are unable to feed.
3. Goliath Tigerfish
Also known as giant tigerfish, found in the Congo basin, it is very keen in catching its prey by sharp vision and hearing. This African fish has large teeth and grows to a length of 1.5 meters and a weight of 50 kilograms. This highly predatory fish is known for its attacking, locals even say that it’s the only fish that doesn’t fear the crocodile, rather eats smaller ones.
4. Fistulata: Longest tongue ever
Having a tongue longer than its entire body is something unattractive and obviously quite creepy. The fellow was first discovered in 2005, the tongue which has a hairy and is about 3.5 inches long while the body just about 2 inches long is stored inside the rib cage when not in use. Found in South America, this mouse-sized bat that can hover is rare.
5. Marabou Stork
This large bird is mostly found in Africa. A weight of about 10 kg and height about 150 cm makes this one prominently bigger than the others. What makes it creepy except its size is a huge bill, a pink gular sac i.e. featherless throat skin. Other features include bare head and neck, black back, light-coloured underparts and, black legs and wings.
6. Lobster Moth Caterpillar
When listing creatures that are creepy, lobster moth caterpillar is a must to mention, it is one that looks like a caterpillar but is a moth. It has wings ranging from 40 to 70 millimetres and a swollen abdomen that is curved at the end resembling a lobster tail. The forewings are greyish and brownish and when provoked it sprays formic acid.
Innumerable such creatures fill the deep sea, scary and strange it is both a worm and a squid and hence called squidworm. This 4-inch long being was discovered around 10 years back under the surface of the sea between Indonesia and the Philippines. There are curly tentacles coming out of it, tentacles as long as its actual body and they feed on sinking dead animals and plants.
8. Naked mole rat
Also known as the sand puppy or desert mole rat, it is a burrowing rodent. Found in native parts of Africa, it is about 10 cm long and 30 grams heavy but a few are larger known as queens and may have weight up to 50 or 80 grams too. Having small eyes they have poor vision, also they have large teeth that are used to dig and their lips are sealed just behind the teeth. They have wrinkled pink or yellowish skin and have little or no hair justifying their common name.
9. The Black Swallower
Undoubtedly frightening and creepy this fellow is. This deep sea species is known to swallow a fish larger than itself and hence its name. Despite its small size of 25 cm, it is capable of swallowing prey over twice its length and 10 times its mass as a result of its greatly expandable and broad stomach. It is uniform brownish-black in colour and other traits include the long head with a blunt trunk and moderately sized eyes.

10. Trogloraptor Spider
Trogloraptors are large spiders found in the Oregon Caves. These spiders, also known as ‘Giant Cave Spiders’ are yellow-brown in colour with about 7 cm long legs. Their hook-like claws at the end of their legs make them exceptional. The huge spider was first seen in 2010. They are so different that they represent a new genus, species, and family on the tree of life.
